Summer Games: Third Annual Merrill Minipipe Invitational

For the third summer in a row, the greatest mini-transition riders from around the globe made the trek to Mt. Hood for the Merrill Minipipe Invitational. Forty-four competitors joined the event’s creator, Bode Merrill in the High Cascade park in order to throw down on the ten-foot walls of the pristine pipe. After a two-run format early on followed by an afternoon jam session, the overall top three winners had been decided. Austen Sweetin came out on top, Red Gerard took second, and Chad Otterstrom took third in a podium that aptly represented the legendary, the up and coming, and the current state in snowboarding–all killing it, of course. Only at the MMPI.
Enjoy the top three runs and subsequent interviews with Austen, Red, and Chad and stay tuned this weekend for the next MMPI video, featuring the best tricks from all of the competitors who were hiking the minipipe on Monday.
The Merrill Minipipe Invitational is part of SNOWBOARDER Summer Games. Stay tuned for more photo and video coverage from each of the Summer Games events. Nexen Tires is the official tire sponsor of the SNOWBOARDER Summer Games.
